Yes the Community edition is still supported.

Current versions are :
3.1 : Plus Edition
2.9 : Community edition

v3.2 Plus edition (and probably v3.0 Community Edition) will be released before the end of 2016.

The community edition is always a couple of versions behind the Plus Edition.
